Oliver Peoples has launched a new Estate Series collection inspired by Paul Newman, dropping on January 26 — what would have been the actor’s 101st birthday. The Los Angeles-based brand, which built its reputation sourcing vintage American eyewear from the 1920s through the 1960s, has followed up previous installments honouring Gregory Peck and Cary Grant with frames that capture Newman’s signature oversized pilot style. The collection features thick teardrop lenses with 57mm width, straight tops, and wide solid bridges — faithful to the frames Newman wore from the early 1960s onward.

The homage is deliberately understated. Newman raced under the alias “P.L. Newman” to keep his celebrity separate from his life on the track, and Oliver Peoples honours this with engraved initials on the metal temple cap, visible only when the frames are folded. The collection comes in four acetate colorways: Dark Amber Smoke, Walnut Tortoise, Black, and the standout “Newman Blue” — a semi-transparent deep royal blue inspired by the actor’s piercing eyes, paired with smoky grey lenses. Polarized lenses are available in the Black and Walnut Tortoise options, and optical frames are offered with prescription, non-prescription, and gradient lens options.

Handmade in Japan and developed in collaboration with Newman’s estate, the collection carries added meaning beyond style — proceeds support Newman’s Own Foundation, where 100% of profits go to children in need. Sunglasses retail from $555 to $619, with optical frames starting at $493.
