Canadian eye care professionals are invited to attend an educational webinar showcasing the latest clinical evidence on contrast management for myopia control in children, along with experiences from a Canadian practice. On July 22 at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT), SightGlass Vision will host “Control the Contrast: From Theory to Practice with MiSight® Spectacle Lenses Powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™.”
The session will feature Vishakha Thakrar, OD, FAAO, FSLS, of Vaughan Vision Centre in Vaughan, Ontario, Fabio Carta, Dip. Optom, FBCLA, Director of Professional Affairs at SightGlass Vision, and Nathalie Trottier, OD, FAAO, senior manager of professional and academic affairs Canada at CooperVision.
Canadian eye care professionals interested in attending the webinar can register here.
Carta will open with the science behind contrast management, then present new two-year findings from SightGlass Vision’s CATHAY study, showing that DOT® spectacle lenses—available in Canada as MiSight® Spectacle Lenses powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™—saved more than 1D of myopia progression on average after two years in Chinese children aged 6 to 10.[1]*† Across the full study population of patients in China aged 6 to 13, the two-year data also showed that the lenses slowed average myopia progression by 67% (0.78D) and average axial length progression by 62% (0.40 mm) after two years of wear compared with the control group.1*
Dr. Thakrar and Dr. Trottier will then take the data from theory to practice, walking through how the lenses perform when prescribing them for young patients. They’ll discuss the effectiveness they’re seeing firsthand and offer practical advice for peers weighing whether to fit the lenses themselves.
MiSight® Spectacle Lenses powered by Diffusion Optics Technology™ are designed to mimic more natural contrast while offering a clinically equivalent visual experience to standard single-vision lenses.[2] The lenses have been worn by more than two million children worldwide.[3]‡
The webinar is part of SightGlass Vision’s Control the Contrast initiative, which aims to educate and inspire action among eye care professionals to slow the progression of myopia in children and build a greater understanding of the power of contrast management for myopia control.
