Matter becomes light; lightness becomes strength. Blackfin introduces Vitra, where titanium encounters a new material that redefines transparency, interpreting design through high-performance materials.

The name Vitra – from the Latin vitrum – evokes purity and light. At Blackfin this light gains body and substance, transforming itself into a design element. The front is made of VitraCore™, a proprietary technology based on a state-of-the-art high-performance polymer. Its thickness is intentionally greater than the market standard — a choice that challenges the idea of fragility typically associated with transparent materials, ensuring incomparable toughness while remaining exceptionally lightweight.

Minimal components, forged from a single block of aerospace-grade titanium that is free of welds, lend the products an authentic high-tech identity. Inspired by aeronautical rivets, the micro-hinge is concealed behind the patented Loop connection. Invisible from the side and the front, it visually disappears on the face. The temples, as well as the hooks anchored to the bridge, add stability and comfort, transcending mere function to turn Vitra into a sculptural modern-design object.

Here, color becomes substance. The transparency of VitraCore™ is expressed through glossy surfaces that heighten the perception of lightness, or in matte finishes that add density and depth to the material. An ongoing dialog with the infinite array of titanium finishes – anodization, lacquer, PVD and hand-brushed processes — gives rise to sophisticated combinations and a radically modern aesthetic.

“Vitra is the transparent evolution of titanium,” remarked Blackfin CEO Nicola Del Din. “Here, the invisible becomes solid, merging the purity of light with the mechanical certainty of Blackfin. Along with Aero and Pacific, this family opens a new, essential segment dedicated to lightness – a vision we firmly believe in and one that inaugurates a new world for the brand, with the conviction that it will further amplify the extraordinary results we are achieving.”

Featuring eight men’s and women’s styles with timeless shapes, the Blackfin Vitra collection is available in full-titanium or in versions with silicone nose pads and medical-grade rubber temple tips. These solutions enable tailored fitting adaptable to the uniqueness of every face.

Function dictates form, even in the technical details — lens mounting uses a standard groove system to ensure universal, efficient lab processing.

Every pair of Blackfin eyewear has been designed and crafted since 1971 at the Black Shelter Sustainable Factory, in the heart of the Dolomite Mountains. This place is a tangible declaration of radical independence — a conscious choice of creative and production autonomy, far from the mainstream. It is here that Blackfin works with respect and dedication, driven by the conviction that true creativity can only exist in total freedom.

Blackfin Vitra will be officially launched internationally at MIDO Milano.
