The French eyewear brand, known for its clean, essential aesthetic, has spent the past decade building a loyal following and is now setting its sights on a broader global presence.

Founded on the principle of essential French design, Simple Eyewear has remained committed to a philosophy of understated elegance throughout its first decade. The brand’s approach centres on creating eyewear that is thoughtfully crafted and free from unnecessary complexity, allowing the quality of materials and design to speak for itself.

As the brand enters its second decade, it is leveraging the momentum of its anniversary to deepen its reach in markets around the world. The expansion reflects growing international demand for the kind of refined, purpose-driven eyewear that Simple Eyewear has become known for.

The Canadian market is among those being targeted as part of this broader global push, with the brand working to connect with optical retailers and eyecare professionals who share its commitment to quality and design integrity.

Essilor Canada has announced the winners of its 2024 Essilor Vision Foundation Bursary Program. The initiative provides financial support to students who are pursuing careers in eyecare across the country.

This year, the company awarded 19 bursaries totaling 47,500 dollars to students enrolled in optometry, opticianry, and vision science programs at Canadian educational institutions. The recipients were selected based on their academic excellence, community involvement, and commitment to advancing eye health and vision care.

The 2024 bursary winners include optometry students from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science, opticianry students from various colleges across Canada, and vision science students. Each recipient demonstrated outstanding dedication to their studies and a strong passion for making a difference in the field of eyecare.

“We are proud to support the next generation of eyecare professionals through the Essilor Vision Foundation Bursary Program,” said Alain Brière, President and CEO of Essilor Canada. “These talented students represent the future of our industry, and their commitment to improving vision care aligns perfectly with our mission to help people see better and live better.”

The Essilor Vision Foundation Bursary Program is part of Essilor Canada’s broader commitment to supporting education and professional development in the eyecare sector. The program has been helping students pursue their dreams of working in eyecare for many years, removing financial barriers and encouraging excellence in the field.

The bursary recipients will use their awards to help cover tuition fees, textbooks, equipment, and other educational expenses as they continue their studies. By investing in these future eyecare professionals, Essilor Canada aims to strengthen the eyecare workforce and ensure that Canadians have access to high-quality vision care services.

In addition to financial support, bursary recipients become part of the Essilor Canada community, gaining access to networking opportunities and industry connections that can help launch their careers. This support extends beyond monetary assistance, providing students with valuable resources as they transition from education to professional practice.

The Essilor Vision Foundation is the charitable arm of Essilor of America and works to eliminate poor vision and its life-limiting consequences. The foundation supports programs that provide vision care to underserved populations and promotes awareness about the importance of regular eye examinations.

Applications for the 2025 Essilor Vision Foundation Bursary Program will open later this year. Students who are enrolled in or planning to enroll in optometry, opticianry, or vision science programs at Canadian institutions are encouraged to apply when the application period begins.

Essilor Canada congratulates all the 2024 bursary winners and wishes them continued success in their academic and professional journeys. The company remains committed to supporting education and advancing the eyecare profession across Canada.

LINDA FARROW UNVEILS SS27 ROOM SERVICE

Linda Farrow has unveiled its SS27 collection, Room Service, ahead of Silmo 2026. Inspired by the great five-star hotels of London, the collection draws on the sumptuous atmosphere of 1970s hotel life, exploring “a world where luxury is found in every detail – where product, service and experience are considered with equal care.” The palette moves through scarlet interiors, warm taupes, deep browns and burnt orange tones, evoking polished wood, plush lounges and mirrored bars.

Rooted in the brand’s heritage of glamour and craftsmanship, each frame is handcrafted in Japan using fine materials and precise techniques. The collection considers how different generations experience luxury today, celebrating the dynamic between mother and daughter while recognizing that each values something distinct. “Room Service captures both worlds through a cinematic lens – celebrating women who move through life with sophistication, presence and their own distinct sense of style.”

The SS27 collection features a range of signature design details across its frames. Highlights include a reintroduced 1970s heritage logo applied in fine white ink, an industrialized titanium eyelet plate with hand-painted colour contrasts, sculpted Japanese titanium frames with precision bevelling, and a decorative encased core wire suspended beneath crystal acetate with Linda Farrow’s signature honeycomb detailing. Additional standouts include precious metal-plated lenses on the Marcelo and Sadie frames and photochromic lenses by Barberini on the Meret, featuring adaptive molecular technology that responds to changing light conditions.

Linda Farrow will present the SS27 Room Service collection at Silmo 2026 in Hall 7, Stand C037. For more information, visit lindafarrow.com.

ic! berlin unveils first campaign featuring Audi Revolut F1® Team

The campaign, rolling out globally this week, marks the brand’s first official activation since announcing their partnership with Audi Revolut F1® Team in February, making ic! berlin the first official eyewear partner of the team.

Titled “From 0.05 mm to 300 km/h: engineering performance and precision at speed,” the campaign draws a direct line between ic! berlin’s ultra-light, screwless frames and the Audi R26 race car, engineered for lighter dimensions, active aerodynamics and high-speed agility. “The partnership unites two brands where form and function are inseparable,” the company noted, adding that qualities like focus, precision and confidence align naturally with ic! berlin’s design philosophy.

Shot by photographer Rupert Tapper with creative direction by visual artist Leif Podhajsky, the imagery uses motion blur to capture the speed and intensity of Formula 1 racing. Beyond the campaign visuals, ic! berlin will offer brand ambassadors and select media trackside experiences at races in Monza, Italy; Marina Bay, Singapore; and Austin, Texas throughout the season.
